Historical Romance 101

Can we be honest? When it comes to remembering what happened in books—especially the endings—I have a terrible memory. That said. There are a few endings (or resolutions) that I do remember.

I’ll try to keep spoilers to a minimum, but I make no guarantees.

Romancing the Duke by Tessa Dare — Our hero, Ransom, lets his freak flag fly in an effort to win back Izzy and show her how much she truly means to him.

Romancing Mister Bridgerton by Julia Quinn — Included here because we get the reveal of Lady Whistledown. Also, Penelope and Colin.

One Good Earl Deserves a Lover by Sarah MacLean — Far from a damsel in distress, Pippa conspires to save Cross. And she does in the most epic way possible.

No Good Duke Goes Unpunished by Sarah MacLean — It’s not anything about this book itself that makes it memorable (it being my least favorite of the series), but the epilogue had me gasping. For reasons.

Lady Jenny’s Christmas Portrait by Grace Burrowes– Elijah does something bold for Jenny to help her achieve her dreams of painting.

I’ve Got My Duke to Keep Me Warm by Kelly Bowen — Gisele has devised a plan to save a woman from the clutches of her husband. She sees her plan through until the end, and it is glorious.

Don’t forget to stop by Quinn’s Book Nook, Feminist Fairy Tales, and Addicted to Romance for their favorite endings!

  1. oh these are some great endings here!! I do love the ending for Romancing Mr. Bridgerton!! So fabulous. I adore Grace Burrowes, but I don’t think I have read that one yet. So need to. And I agree about One Good Earl Deserves A Lover, the ending was pretty fabulous.

Yes on the No Good Duke Goes Unpunished ending. I liked the book, but it was that ending that made my mouth drop. It definitely made me want the next book right away. I love it when the heroine is the one who saves the day so, of course, I loved One Good Earl Deserves a Lover. I have the Kelly Bowen book on my e-reader and I really want to read it soon. Great list!
