Synopsis

To us, first responders are heroes. But for them, risking their lives is a normal, everyday thing.

Mudflap:
Born the baby of the family, Mudflap has always had something to prove to emerge out of the shadows of his older siblings. He spent eight years as a Special Ops elite sniper and is now a firefighter. But at his heart, he’s just a normal West Texas good old boy who loves his beer, women and football, until the Department of Defense calls him up to say they need his skills again.

Shanae:
Shanae is a first responder of a different sort. She’s a trauma nurse who works on a medical evacuation helicopter team. But while she lives a life full of adrenaline every day, it’s just a cover for her real life, where she hides in the shadows and is secret agent, Shadowfox for the Lubbock Foxtrot Team (LiFT). She’s living the kind of life that most people think exists only in movies and books.

Working for two different branches of the government, Mudflap and Shanae are in a race against time and the terrorists who threaten the very heart of West Texas life, football. They’re working toward the same goal, but find themselves in a confrontation against each other and the lies they’ve each had to hide behind. Can love win out in the end or will the cost be each other and their very lives?

First responders are heroes every day, but this story tells the tale of when they become even more and find love along the way. The key is for them to stay alive so that they can complete their mission and just maybe live happily ever after.

On an ordinary day, they save lives. On an extraordinary day, they save the country.

(All the proceeds from this novel will go to the Lubbock Red Cross.)

My Thoughts on The Shadow of Mudflap

I have one thing to say about this book. No, wait. I have more than one thing. I have several things. One of them will likely revolve around Mudflap’s unfortunate name. Poor guy. Another MIGHT revolve around how I fear ever traveling through Texas because (if I’m reading these Christi Snow books right) there’s a terrorist lurking around every corner. On the other hand, Texas also seems to sport some mighty hunky looking men. And the ladies who can bring them to their knees.

I appreciate that.

So. Mudflap. Yes, that’s his name. All things considered, he’s surprisingly easy-going about being named after a part on a truck. He also has an immediate attraction to the lovely Shanae. Which, considering she has the same attraction, turns out to work well for the both of them. Things get tangled between Shanae’s job as a super sexy spy and Mudflap’s involvement in her current case. Wires get crossed, football players get flogged, COVERS NEARLY GET BLOWN! For the record, not all those things happen at once. Just so we’re clear.

Meanwhile, at the Legion of Doom headquarters… just kidding. I’m not going to spill the beans on what happens. Just imagine secret codes, diabolical plots, and one character who I’m not sure should be trusted. Oh, and throw in some unexpected sexy times. Because those happen.

There are some nice threads laid out for future books (YAY!), unexpected revelations to fuel the future, and a satisfactory ending to the issue that Shanae and Mudflap are dealing with here. All in all, it was a fun, fast, sexy read!

  1. Mudflap? For serious? I can’t do anything but love him since he has such a ridiculous name, so consider this book on my list. Do you think people would ever call him Flap for short? It’s kind of catchy. Oh, and sign me up for Texas and its impressive sporting of uber-sexy men. I think we should all take a road trip there one day and see what we can find…plus there’s chupacabras and the Alamo to think about.

  2. Is there really a Legion of Doom? Or are you just f-ing with me? Because after having an MC named Mudflap, I’d believe just about anything with this story. And it sounds great.
