Clock Rewinders on a Book Binge is where Tara @ 25 Hour Books and I shamelessly plug each other, share the fantastic posts, giveaways, or whatever else we’ve found and loved by other awesome bloggers (or authors!) during the week, and talk about the books we plan on reading in the coming week.
Announcement
The service that forwards my onabookbender.wordpress.com address to my onabookbender.com address is about to expire. What does this mean for you? If you subscribed to my feed BEFORE October 9th, 2011, please make sure that the feed you’re following does NOT have .wordpress.com in the address. If it does, you will stop receiving updates once the service stops, and that’s NO GOOD. If you’re subscribed to my Feedburner address or to onabookbender.com/feed/, you have nothing to worry about. (Though if you have content linked up to my .wordpress.com address, it’ll work [until I make that blog private] but it won’t link to *this* blog. Just an FYI.)

Meanwhile, in Amanda’s World
- I got to see my brother! It’s been about a year and half since the last time I saw him.
- The aforementioned visit of my brother threw off my regular routine. I get weird when this happens.
- I added a couple things to my site this week: more options for social sharing and a related posts plugin. It’s the related posts plugin that I’m not too sure about. I like it, yet I don’t. *stares at it*
- Oh! And I managed to create a Feedburner email icon, then created a “subscribe” and a “connect” widget in my sidebar. That stupid Feedburner icon took me FOREVER and was very FRUSTRATING, so you should all tell me how awesome it looks.
- I bought a giraffe and have been taking random pictures of it. Visit my Facebook page for the pictures!
- This week did not go well in regards to reading for me. Boo. At least it’s not because I lack awesome books to read. Just that my brain is too tired to handle reading.
- Last week, I wrote about drafting professional emails for Language Management, LLC. Yes, these things apply to bloggers, too!
Around the Book Blogging Community
- Celine (Nyx Book Reviews) wants to put together a list of blogger affiliate links. The point? If we’re buying books, why not buy them using affiliate links and give back to bloggers–especially if someone’s review made you want to read the book? (Kelly has a review for me on 10/17 that, after I read it, was so AWESOME and CONVINCING that I decided I needed to get the book for myself. I used her affiliate link to do it. I think this is a great way to support each other.)
- Felicia (Geeky Blogger’s Book Blog) gives us five quick and easy SEO tips.
- Alissa (The Grammarian’s Reviews) builds off Jamie’s post from last week and talks about when we admit to people IRL that we are book bloggers.
- Kristilyn (Reading In Winter) shares with us what she has learned since becoming a book blogger. There is some really great advice here!
Search Terms
erotica — O.O I don’t read this. Ever.
in denial — I am NOT in denial.
puns about blankets — This led to one of my Top Off Tuesday posts. (I miss those men in blankets. I should bring them back.)

Hahaha, I love the giraffe pics! And your feedburner icon looks wonderful. I wish mine was so fancy as yours.
Thanks for linking to my affiliate link thingy <3
Amanda @ On a Book Bender October 7, 2012 at 9:11 am
Thank you, Celine! :)
I love the affiliate link idea! I think it’s a great way to give back to our favorite bloggers by doing nothing more than just… doing what we always do–buy books!
Smash Attack October 7, 2012 at 8:15 am
ohhhh! I hope you liked FEED. Such a good book!
Happy that you got see your brother! I wish I had siblings to see sometimes. I just use my in-laws or my cousins. heh.
The Feedburner icons looks great! I love the subscribe/connect areas. :)
Amanda @ On a Book Bender October 7, 2012 at 9:16 am
Well… if my boyfriend’s brothers are any indication of how in-laws are, I’d have to say that they’re basically like having your own brothers.
Thank you! :) I did the separation between subscribe and connect on a whim, but I actually really like it.
Amy @bookgoonie October 7, 2012 at 8:54 am
The FEED audiobook is AWESOME, if you didn’t already have the book on your shelf.
Your Feedburner Icon is FABULOUS.
Headed off to catch up on your reviews this week. So excited about I Hunt Killers and not so sad that I didn’t pick up False Memory.
Amanda @ On a Book Bender October 7, 2012 at 9:17 am
Thank you, Amy! :)
Kelly @ Reading the Paranormal October 7, 2012 at 9:44 am
*Looks at your Unbreaking the Shelves progress* Uh-huh.
*buffs nails over Feed*
*looks at your search terms for the week* Liar, liar, HA!
Amanda @ On a Book Bender October 7, 2012 at 9:54 am
*glares*
*glares some more*
Kelly @ Reading the Paranormal October 7, 2012 at 9:58 am
I don’t think I like that look in your eye. It’s very intimidating. I NEED AN ADULT!
Amanda @ On a Book Bender October 7, 2012 at 9:59 am
*looks around* There are no adults here. *smiles maniacally*
Kelly @ Reading the Paranormal October 7, 2012 at 10:04 am
YOUR MANIC SMILE IS EVEN MORE FRIGHTENING!
*whimpers*
*practices baring my teeth in a manic, slightly deranged smile of my own*
*likes it*
Amanda @ On a Book Bender October 7, 2012 at 10:07 am
*pokes you*
Kristilyn (Reading in Winter) October 7, 2012 at 10:12 am
YOUR FEEDBURNER ICON IS AWESOME!! EPIC!! AMAZING!!
Yay for seeing your brother! That’s a long time! Have they driven through my city yet? Did I miss my waving opportunity?
I’m not sure about Feed, BUT it is in eBook format, which makes it more appealing. I tried buying it in book format a while back but all that was available was the mass market and the font was TINY!
*high fives* on your Unbreaking the Shelves status. I think we’re both heading in the same direction!
Amanda @ On a Book Bender October 7, 2012 at 10:21 am
YAY! THANK YOU! Making the Feedburner portion transparent was the TOUGHEST part and it make me all GRRRR! But I did it. *pets my Feedburner icon*
My brother won’t be leaving until next Wednesday… so there is still time!
I saw that there were SIX HUNDRED PAGES in the book format of Feed. O.O
Kristilyn (Reading in Winter) October 7, 2012 at 10:24 am
I’ve played around PLENTY OF TIMES in Illustrator and there are lots of things that have me wanting to throw the computer out the window. Thankfully, it’s one of those really big Macs so it won’t FIT through the window.
I’ve heard Feed is CRAZY AWESOME! I considered getting the eBook, but then that’s ANOTHER series I need to read … maybe once I catch up on some series books.
*marks down waving day in calendar*
Tell them to watch for me!
Amanda @ On a Book Bender October 7, 2012 at 10:28 am
Ha. My normal MO seems to be: spend an hour wanting to pull my hair out trying to do something, walk away, come back to it later, and figure it all out. I also learned how to make rounded corners in GIMP, which I hadn’t known how to do. (I also made a new Twitter icon. Woo hoo! But I tried doing a new Goodreads one but… that did not go well. At all.)
Sarah (saz101) October 7, 2012 at 9:39 pm
DOUBLE TENTACLE PENTRATION? O___O
THIs is something I had never even THOUGHT of before. And, uh, seriously. (I’m VERY curious about your new search terms :P
Also: your search terms…. you’re… uh… in denial about reading erotica, apparently?
Amanda @ On a Book Bender October 7, 2012 at 9:53 pm
When you’ve got a lot of tentacles, ANYTHING is possible!
TOTALLY NOT IN DENIAL! I don’t know what you’re talking about.
Anya @ On Starships and Dragonwings October 8, 2012 at 7:22 am
Feedburner button looks awesome :D
What service did you use to forward your wordpress to your self-hosted domain?
Amanda @ On a Book Bender October 8, 2012 at 9:09 am
Before I was self-hosted, I used domain mapping with WP.com to forward my .wordpress.com address to my domain name. It expires tomorrow.
