Clock Rewinders on a Book Binge is where Tara @ 25 Hour Books and I shamelessly plug each other, share the fantastic posts, giveaways, or whatever else we’ve found and loved by other awesome bloggers (or authors!) during the week, and talk about the books we plan on reading in the coming week.
On a Book Bender Recap
- Review: Frostbite by Richelle Mead (8) — Rose is bad ass and snarky!
- Top Off Tuesday — Does your peen hang low? Does it wobble to and fro?
- Kelly Reviews: The Bitter Seed of Magic by Suzanne McLeod (4) — Not really my cup of tea.
- Who Am I Stalking? — JENNY @ Supernatural Snark
Amanda Around the Blogosphere
- Q&A with me at Transient Me — I answer a few questions about blogging, the publishing world, and advice for authors. Warning: I actually sound intelligent and insightful.
- Writing Tips: Simple Comma Rules 3 and 4 at Language Management, LLC — Business blog, bringing you valuable comma rule information.
- Great Literary Adventures with Kelly at Reading the Paranormal: Tentacle Love by Suzanne Crawford — Oh, yes. We’re turning this into a regular feature.
- Great Literary Adventures with Kelly at Reading the Paranormal: 50 Shades of Rapunzel by Mia Abbey
Meanwhile, in Amanda’s World
- It was pretty quiet in my world this week. Did a couple small editing projects. Read some books.
- Kelly and I have interesting conversations. Like peen stealth on one of her reviews, and the peen knot one on Twitter (note: this one will make more sense after reading our Rapunzel review). It should surprise no one that these are both about peens.
- I’ve got a few discussion post ideas. (None of these have been written, FYI.) 1) Amanda’s view on retweeting, 2) the consequences of being branded, and 3) negativity is an addiction (this, in relation to the blogosphere drama). Anyone interested in these?
Around the Book Blogging Community
- Smash (Smash Attack Reads!) compiled a list of awesome bookish websites for us. This is part one of a four part series. Up next? Organizations!
- Chelsea (of Vampire Book Club) wrote an article about Cock Fatigue Awareness on Heroes and Heartbreakers. (Why yes, I *am* experiencing cock fatigue.)
- Anne (Creativity’s Corner) discusses middle grade books.
- Jamie (The Perpetual Page Turner) tells us her secrets for finding bookish events in your area.
- M.R. Merrick asks his readers what’s in a love triangle. And the people have responded! (You all know I hate love triangles. I hate them because someone always get shafted, and not in a good way. I’ve seen a real love triangle in action: two best friends and a girl. It almost ruined the friendship, and the girl wasn’t really ever worth either one of those boys’ time.)
- Ruby (Ruby’s Reads) wants to know what you do to combat reading ADD. (I read short freebies until I can’t stand them any longer, then I go back to my books.)
Search Terms
“where demons fear to tread” does it have sex — Yes. I believe this is where I counted up the number of times the word ‘cock’ was used in one sex scene. I don’t remember the number now, but I do know that it was overused. Or that’s what I thought at the time.
tuesday tease — I never tease you on Tuesdays. NEVER.
funny tuesdays– I can be funny on Tuesdays, though.
i need benders magic — I know nothing about this. NOTHING. *does a magic show when you’re not looking*
surprised about how many grammatical mistakes — There are grammar mistakes EVERYWHERE!
is there a relationship between the summoning the awakening kelley armstrong series — Yes, they’re having a torrid affair. But shhh! Don’t tell anyone!

Unbreaking the Shelves Progress
Despite reading three books from my own-must-read shelf, I received five books, so I, um, ended the week at a surplus. I’m not too concerned, though. I’m doing really well at not buying any books, so as long as people don’t send me books, I should be okay. (Not that I would turn away a book in need of home, however. I welcome books with open arms at the On a Book Bender casa.) And we won’t even talk about what happened with my pending shelf.

Kelly @ Reading the Paranormal September 16, 2012 at 12:11 am
I added 29 books to my shelves this week. Somehow I still managed to reduce my TBR pile from last week. *whispers nervously* I think I was bit by a radioactive spider and this is my new superpower. With great power comes great responsibility. I must read all the books. I MUST!
is there a relationship between the summoning the awakening kelley armstrong series – I just… what? WHAT? Your answer is the best answer EVER to this question.
Next week: We read ALL THE BOOKS!
Amanda @ On a Book Bender September 16, 2012 at 11:11 am
Reading is a good superpower to have. I approve.
(Yes to reading ALL THE BOOKS!)
Amy @ bookgoonie September 16, 2012 at 8:26 am
I need “bender magic”…like the ability to finish more than one book a week. Urgh!
So do demons fear to tread wherever sex is or must there be sex? I usually find demons & sex in the same areas.
Great links & I have a comma lesson scheduled a little later today.
Amanda @ On a Book Bender September 16, 2012 at 11:11 am
It’s easy to finish more than one book in a week when a) you have a lot of time and b) you read a lot of novellas.
:)
Amy @ bookgoonie September 16, 2012 at 11:18 am
Novellas are the crack to reading stats & feeling of accomplishment. ;D
Amanda @ On a Book Bender September 16, 2012 at 11:20 am
That is the truth. It’s the reason I’m now 17 books ahead of my reading goal for the year. lol.
Anya @ On Starships and Dragonwings September 16, 2012 at 8:50 am
All of your discussion post ideas sound awesome! Twitter continues to baffle me at times so any chance to get insight into its “rules” would be wonderful :D
Anya
Amanda @ On a Book Bender September 16, 2012 at 11:12 am
I spend a lot of time on Twitter, but I highly doubt there are any rules. And plenty of people disagree what proper etiquette is. But I do have my peeves, which I am always happy to share. ;) I have a post like that this coming Friday.
Kristilyn (Reading in Winter) September 16, 2012 at 10:51 am
Phew! I’m not alone! I added 8 books to my pile this week. I like to give books a good home, too.
Meanwhile, I don’t know if I WANT to read your review of Steele … it just sounds … interesting.
And yeah! I Hunt Killers! I have the audiobook and can’t wait to read it!
Amanda @ On a Book Bender September 16, 2012 at 11:16 am
You should read my review of Steele for shits and giggles. The review is only a few sentences, though I do manage to mention being balls deep in her pleasure hole (because I’m awesome like that).
I really REALLY liked I Hunt Killers (I read the book; no idea if the audiobook is good). It was…AWESOME.
Smash Attack September 16, 2012 at 11:41 am
Thanks for the shout out, chica! I do want to brainstorm discussion post ideas. I’m not sure what I have to say on the ones you posted, but you do have great ideas, always.
I hope you love Full Blooded. SO FRAKIN GOOD!
SHADOW & BONE! ZOMG! ♥
Amanda @ On a Book Bender September 16, 2012 at 11:47 am
The branding one I’m particularly interested in because I think it’s a reason for some of the drama in the blogosphere (authors don’t realize they’re a brand, they react negatively as a person, and drama ensues). I also think that even bloggers need to see themselves as a brand and think before they blog/review/tweet/post. Consider the possible consequences of what you say BEFORE you say it and all that good stuff.
Smash Attack September 16, 2012 at 11:51 am
I could not agree more. Sometimes people forget that, myself included. You have to edit yourself before you press Submit. Shit stays FOREVA on the intarwebz.
Amanda @ On a Book Bender September 16, 2012 at 11:56 am
I think we also forget that what we say is public, even if we are replying to someone else (on Twitter, a forum, or a blog). And people SEE it and run with it.
Mary @ BookSwarm September 16, 2012 at 7:54 pm
Hi! *waves enthusiastically* Missed you! I went over to Kelly’s place and, wow, those books are ridonkulous! Loved the hilarious commentary. Have a great reading (and life) week!
Amanda @ On a Book Bender September 16, 2012 at 9:04 pm
*tackle hugs* Mary, I have MISSED YOU LIKE CRAZY! Glad you enjoyed my grand literary adventures with Kelly. Hope to see more of you soon! :)
Sarah (saz101) September 17, 2012 at 9:28 pm
Ooooh, I LOVED Anne’s discussion on MG! Also, her blog’s INSANELY pretty ♥
AND I WANT TO SEE YOUR POST ON RETWEETING *bites nails* *wonders if I’m going to be crucified for naughty behabiour* :P
Amanda @ On a Book Bender September 18, 2012 at 3:40 pm
I love when you’re naughty, Sarah. Er… wait. That’s probably not what you meant. ;)
Sarah (saz101) September 18, 2012 at 6:40 pm
Bahaha! OK, now my mind is going very naughty places XD
Amanda @ On a Book Bender September 18, 2012 at 6:48 pm
Welcome to the gutter side, where peens are plentiful and pop up all over the place.
Sarah (saz101) September 18, 2012 at 6:48 pm
You know I’ve been here the entire time you have, right? :D
Amanda @ On a Book Bender September 18, 2012 at 6:49 pm
Awesomepeen! (This is my alternative to awesomesauce, which I’m not a fan of.)
Sarah (saz101) September 18, 2012 at 7:00 pm
Oh for the love of THANK YOU. Awesomesauce needs to DIE O__O
Amanda @ On a Book Bender September 18, 2012 at 10:48 pm
This is just another one of the many, many reasons I love you, Sarah.
Sarah (saz101) September 18, 2012 at 10:52 pm
You know, every time I get a comment from you I get giddy happy.
E-mail: “Someone from On A Book Bender Loves You.”
Me: THIS MAKES UP FOR EVERY SUCKY VALENTINE’S DAY ♥♥♥
Amanda @ On a Book Bender September 18, 2012 at 10:58 pm
HERE’S ANOTHER COMMENT FOR YOU!
(Also, the email doesn’t lie. Someone from On a Book Bender DOES love you.)
Sarah (saz101) September 18, 2012 at 11:06 pm
I LOVE YOU. DID YOU KNOW?
TRUE STORY.
Also, incredibly random, because I just saw the title for the sequel to THe Selection (which I already knew, but it reminded me).
The Elite.
The word ‘elite’. Up until a few weeks ago, I worked with a guy who pronounced ‘Elite’ as ‘Eh-light’. It was seriously amusing.
OH AND ANOTHER ONE.
I was skiing in Whistler with husbandman (his name is Nick, BTW), and he says, “if we get separated, we’ll meet back at ron-dezz-vezz.” I stared at him, drawing a complete blank for a while, then cracked up laughing. He meant ‘Rendezvous’, this restaurant/eatery place up on the mountaing.
*cackles*
Amanda @ On a Book Bender September 20, 2012 at 10:29 am
Heh. I love your random stories! :) (And you, I love you, too!)
