Clock Rewinders on a Book Binge is where Tara @ 25 Hour Books and I shamelessly plug each other, share the fantastic posts, giveaways, or whatever else we’ve found and loved by other awesome bloggers (or authors!) during the week, and talk about the books we plan on reading in the coming week.
On a Book Bender Recap
- Review: With Good Behavior by Jennifer Lane (8) — A romance you don’t wanna miss. [Also, ALSO! Autumn won the giveaway. YAY AUTUMN!]
- Top Off Tuesday — A Full Moon
- Kelly Reviews: Never Slow Dance with a Zombie by E. Van Lowe (5) — blink blink blink–what the hell?
- Who Am I Stalking? Amy @ bookgoonie
Meanwhile, in Amanda’s World
- *blinks* Wait, WHAT? An entire week has gone by AGAIN? Eff.
- On Wednesday, I published my second article for my business. You should read it. Or subscribe to my newsletter to make sure you get ALL THE ARTICLES. Next article involves simple comma rules.
- I’ve been rolling the idea around to make an introduction video for my business, except I’m kinda nervous and not sure what to say.
- I somehow managed to hit 1,000 Twitter followers on Friday. I HAVE NO IDEA HOW THIS HAPPENED. I’m sure that a bunch of them are spam bots and it’ll drop under 1,000 soon, but I’m all O.O right now.
- I also got thrown into Twitter jail four times. Three for @BookBender and one for @boutofbooks. Um. Go, me?
- Does everyone remember my The Power of Language post? Yes? I want to remind everyone that how we phrase something is very important. The way we say things–and how we react to what others have said–can and do show how we feel, no matter what we say our intentions are. There are ways to make things nice and there are ways to make things negative. If what you have to say is NOT POSITIVE, check it at the door first. Remember that negativity has a way of breeding and festering. Even if you don’t intend to be negative, if you are not shooting rainbows out of your ass, whatever you say could be taken negatively. And no one wants to spread the negativity.
- Bout of Books has thrown my entire week off, so I don’t really have anything for the community portion of this post. *embarrassed*

I know–how is it possible another week’s come and gone? Gah! Slow down, time. I have too much to do and there’s just not enough time…
Congrats (??) on the Twitter jaillings, you bad, bad girl!
Amanda @ On a Book Bender August 19, 2012 at 9:17 am
Bwahaha. I usually try to get Twitter jailed, and it amuses me to no end when I do.
I have no idea how the days go by so quickly. Where is the brake??
Ellie August 19, 2012 at 9:32 am
Bout of Books *IS* what’s been going on in the community! :)
Amanda @ On a Book Bender August 19, 2012 at 10:08 am
lol. Thanks for that, Ellie. Sometimes it’s hard to be aware of what’s going on in the blogosphere when I’ve got my head stuck in BoB for the week. :)

Boo to negativity! Computers and the Internet make is SO hard to come across as positive all the time … sometimes something so simple can be construed as negative. And we can’t add smiley faces to EVERYTHING! (<– or can we?)
:)
This week has FLOWN by! It's nuts! I look forward to a slower week this week. I had a hard time coming up with community posts, too.
Ha ha … bone castle in prague. Love your interpretation!
Looks like you did AWESOME on Twitter this week. I'm assuming the third time was the last chat? Oh, and congrats on 1000 Twitter followers! I go through mine and try to delete spammy people, so it's going to take a LONG time to hit 1000. You're my inspiration!
Amanda @ On a Book Bender August 19, 2012 at 10:12 am
Unfortunately, smiley faces don’t solve the issue. It’s more like: I had someone say they weren’t complaining, but how they reacted and the words they used made it a complaint. It was negative.
Most of my Twitter followers come from hosting Bout of Books. So… it’s not because I’m *that* awesome or anything.
Kelly @ Reading the Paranormal August 19, 2012 at 9:45 am
I’ve been so out of it this week with Bout of Books that I don’t think I commented much on your blog OR responded to comments on mine. Okay. This is cool. Now I have something to work toward. I can be a commenting machine today, right?
Bone Castle? *snicker snort*
*huggles you*
Amanda @ On a Book Bender August 19, 2012 at 10:12 am
*pokes you* *pokes you hard* I know. I kept going to your blog to see if you’d responded to my comments, but you hadn’t. I was sad.
Smash Attack August 19, 2012 at 10:53 am
I think you are excused for the week, being awesome BoB organizer and all. Thanks for a great time, as always. Let me know if you need help in the future. :)
So proud that you got @boutofbooks jailed! WIN!
Amanda @ On a Book Bender August 19, 2012 at 11:48 am
:) Thanks, Smash.
I like jailing Twitter accounts! Um. That’s kind of obvious, though, I think.
Ashley Montgomery August 19, 2012 at 2:20 pm
That’s one thing I hate about talking to someone via email, text, etc. You can’t hear their voice or see their face so you really don’t know what tone their using.
Happy reading!

What I mean is more subtext than tone of voice. Like the person who says, “No rush. I just need to get this out as soon as possible.” They’ve TOLD you not to rush, but they really DO want you to rush.
Stephanie August 19, 2012 at 4:27 pm
It’s better to overcompensate on the niceness than risk the chance of being perceived as rude.
Yay for Twitter jail! It also looks like you had a good Bout of Books reading-wise too. :) You and Kelly have done an amazing job yet again!
So glad to see that you enjoyed Beg for Mercy. I should probably move that up the TBR pile.
Amanda @ On a Book Bender August 19, 2012 at 5:31 pm
Word. That is so, so true, Stephanie. I have gotten to the point now (especially on Twitter) where I will actually stop and consider what I’m about to say just to make sure it’s not whiny/complaining/negative. I won’t tell you how often I’ve scraped a tweet based on that second thought.
Thanks, Stephanie!
Kristin @myparahangover August 19, 2012 at 9:33 pm
Okay, is there some sort of read-a-long for Alien Prolif? Are you liking it? I so love Gini – the “voices” she writes for her characters always has me laughing out loud! Especially the Pontifex (Christopher’s dad, I’m brain-farting on his name).
I have to ask, was jail for 100 tweets/hour or 1000 in a day? That is just freakin’ amazing and they should hand out awards, seriously!!
And yes, we should all write about things we’ll roll around in…
Amanda @ On a Book Bender August 20, 2012 at 11:00 am
No. Smash and I are just informally reading together since we both have it on our to-read list.
I jailed all the accounts for 100 tweets in less than an hour. I don’t know that it’s physically possible for me to tweet 1,000 in a day. That’s just crazy.
