Clock Rewinders on a Book Binge [58]

Clock Rewinders on a Book Binge is where Tara @ 25 Hour Books and I shamelessly plug each other, share the fantastic posts, giveaways, or whatever else we’ve found and loved by other awesome bloggers (or authors!) during the week, and talk about the books we plan on reading in the coming week.

Announcements

I am participating in July RAK!  It is been months since I last participated and what better month to participate than my birthday month?  I have already sent out two books and have plans to scour the lists for a few more ebooks on the cheaper side to gift.  One of my favorite things about RAK is finding new people!  I haven’t necessarily found any new people YET.  But hopefully I will.

On a Book Bender Recap

Meanwhile, in Amanda’s World

  • I got SUPER lucky this week and won a couple Amazon gift cards, which explains what happened with my own-must-read shelf.
  • Well, it doesn’t FULLY explain what happened to my own-must-read shelf.  See, when I created the shelf, it was originally intended only to show books that I owned and, if they were part of a series, that were the first or next in a series that I had to read.  Which meant that I had a whole slew of books on my Kindle that weren’t covered by the own-must-read shelf.  So I added all those to my list so that my own-must-read shelf more accurately reflects how many books I have to read.  On the off chance that I don’t like a series that I own a couple books in, I also added a “shelved” shelf which is for series that I’ve shelved based on my enjoyment (or lack thereof) of the previous book(s) in the series.  It’s kind of like a “when all other books are read” kind of shelf.  Or, if I own the physical copy, a “give away” self.
  • On the 4th, my parents and I went to see Brave.  I loved it.
  • Sometimes I dislike ALL THE PEOPLE.  Seriously.  I think I’m in this seething mess of leave-me-the-fuck-alone right now.  It takes very little to trigger my annoyance.

Dude. I want to roll around in your Goodreads stats section for a while. I’ll catch up with you when I’m done.

“Deers?” **Cringes** My mother says that on occasion, and it’s like nails on a chalkboard for me!

The Rebel Angels series still remains my favorite of Libba Bray’s despite reading pretty much everything else she’s written since I read those. Can’t wait to hear what you think!

Thanks for mentioning the Read It Pass It post! I hope you enjoy Beg for Mercy. I really need to get to that series myself. I’m sorry that you hate all the people right now. With the way people behave now it’s easy to get to that point.

I’m with you in dislike lately. Don’t know what it is but I just want to hunker down in my house and have everybody leave me alone! *sigh*

I do want to see a giraffee fist bump, though. WTH would that even look like? Also deers? People are stupid.

My GR shelves are a mess. I’ve done some work to them, but not 100% happy. My “to-read” is what I own, “wish” is what I legit will look to buy, “sounds good” is reviews I’ve read that sound good but not a run out & buy.

Loving the search terms this week…”dirty parts of the Bible” seriously there are better places to look & would love to see a giraffe fist bump too.

I have a tendency to forget to change my shelves from “wishlist” to “own” or whatever, and so I try to keep all my wants on my Amazon wishlist. Then I don’t update my GR shelves until I actually have the book in my possession. Of course, I suppose I could make an exclusive list on GR with all the books I want to read. But, eh. That might be too much work.

Thanks for the great links, as always.
I love organizing my GR shelves. So very important for someone like me. The Kindle is the bane of my existence, however. I have a lot of folders created but there are still a ton of unsorted books. I hate Kindle’s organizational features. They are the suck.

People can grate on your nerves something fierce. Sorry you are experiencing the pain of asshatery.

Sometimes attempting to organize my Goodreads shelves gets a little clunky. It’s still better than Kindle, though. I’m afraid to have to organize that.

I think once this semester is over, I’ll feel better and have fewer asshats to deal with. One can hope, anyway.

Those are some great search terms! Especially the dirty bible one … or the audiobook one — maybe they mean they can’t concentrate on their work?

I wish you could filter books on Goodreads by one shelf, and then another. Like, look at my To-Read Books, but then filter to the ones I own. But I guess that’s me being lazy since I could just look at the masses of books on my shelves (and my floor) to see what I haven’t read — it’s a pretty big ratio compared to the ones I HAVE read.

And yes — sometimes ALL THE PEOPLE need to shove it. I totally get it!

“Sometimes I dislike ALL THE PEOPLE. Seriously. I think I’m in this seething mess of leave-me-the-fuck-alone right now. It takes very little to trigger my annoyance.”

    YES YES YES FUCK YES.
But… uh… I… uh… am orry! I don’t wanna piss you off more, but *hugs* I get it. I SO get it >__<

And oh goodness… is it weird that your search terms are one of the highlights of my week?

the most exciting ones I got were 'i got 99 chores and i aint did one' and '1000000 points for gryffindor'

ANYWAY. BIG LOVE. BE GOOD! xx
