Clock Rewinders on a Book Binge is where Tara @ 25 Hour Books and I shamelessly plug each other, share the fantastic posts, giveaways, or whatever else we’ve found and loved by other awesome bloggers (or authors!) during the week, and talk about the books we plan on reading in the coming week.
On a Book Bender Recap
- Kelly Reviews: After Midnight by Teresa Medeiros – Possible vampire sighting in fun historical!
- Top Off Tuesday — Love Machine!
- Kelly Reviews: Evermore by Alyson Noel – Not your mother’s teenage love story.
- My Audiobook Experience — On this note, I started Beauty Queens this past week, which is written and narrated by Libba Bray. She’s amazing. That is all.
Meanwhile, in Amanda’s World
- Bookmarks! I got them. FINALLY! If you want one or two, send me an email with your address!
- The semester is nearly OVER! I almost didn’t make it. Yes, it was THAT bad.
- I guest posted over at Once Upon a Time. I talked about finding time to read. Something I am a bit of an expert at after this semester.
- This coming week I will be making an appearance at Michelle Muto’s blog where I will talk about, among other things, how authors should (and shouldn’t) approach bloggers. The whole experience has gotten me thinking, and I will likely end up writing a discussion post about blogger professionalism as well. After all, professionalism goes both ways.
- My blogoversary celebration begins THURSDAY!
Around the Book Blogging Community
- Bout of Books 4.0 sign-up is here! Get your name down, grab a button, and start spreading the word.
- Alissa from The Grammarian’s Reviews blew my mind with a recipe for microwave potato chips.
- Smash offers some great tips for newbie bloggers.
- Or, if you don’t want to be in charge of your own blog, you can join up with Stephanie @ Once Upon a Chapter who is currently seeking an associate reviewer.
- The Zombie Queen aka Bookish Brunette aka Ashley aka AWESOME wrote a great post about review requests.
- There was an “author commenting on reviews” blog hop/event on Friday. I found both Celine’s post and Stella’s. Stella’s also has authors’ opinions on commenting, which I found particularly interesting. There definitely isn’t a lot of agreement and it seems most authors (and bloggers) have their own opinion about when, if, and how authors should comment on reviews.
- Thea Harrison announces that she signed a contract for a third novella in the Elder Races series. It will be called Devil’s Gate and comes out June 5th. Ruby, I think we’ll have to joint review this one, too.
- Later in the week, Thea Harrison posted the cover art for Devil’s Gate. I know what my Top Off Tuesday post will be on June 5th. He’s not quite shirtless, though.
Search Terms
books about barbed penis stories — This search term made my Monday.

love is sharing. it’s give and take — #Truth.
Books and Things I Received
Jacinda was kind enough to get my copy of Shatter Me signed for me when she saw Tahereh Mafi last week. In case you haven’t heard, Shatter Me was one of my favorite books of 2011.

Shirley from Creative Deeds worked veeeeeeeeeery patiently with me until we came up with bookmarks for On a Book Bender. And here they are! Ta-da!
PS. They look muuuuuuuch better in person.

No freaking WAY is Beauty Queens narrated by Libba! I freaking adored that book. I went to an event with her, of which her personality shined through, so I am certain that her narration is spectacular.
Barbed Peens FTW!
Smash Attack April 22, 2012 at 7:46 am
I just realized we both had search terms in which we point to Kelly’s Tumblr. :D
Kelly @ Reading the Paranormal April 22, 2012 at 9:02 am
O.O
Should I be scared?
*heads over to your blog*
Amanda @ On a Book Bender April 22, 2012 at 9:39 am
Yes, it is! And holy crap, she is amazing. I’m so jealous you’ve met her.
Amy @ bookgoonie April 22, 2012 at 7:29 am
Shatter Me!!! Is waiting on my shelf ;(
Sounds like you may have an alpha male stalking you. Maybe you can help with his nakedness ;)
Love, love the bookmarks.
Smash Attack April 22, 2012 at 7:43 am
I haven’t read Shatter Me either, but I get to meet Tahereh Mafi next weekend. Woot!
Kelly @ Reading the Paranormal April 22, 2012 at 9:04 am
Tahereh Mafi is going to be in San Francisco soon. Amanda told me I should REALLY, REALLY GO!
I’m 87% sure she used all caps and shouted it at me. She’s a yeller, our Amanda is.
Amanda @ On a Book Bender April 22, 2012 at 9:42 am
*cough* Um. Tahereh Mafi reduces me to using caps. I just adore her, and Shatter Me.
Amanda @ On a Book Bender April 22, 2012 at 9:41 am
Oh! I think you’ll have SO MUCH FUN. Take lots of pictures!
Amanda @ On a Book Bender April 22, 2012 at 9:41 am
Or his lack of nakedness? Yes, I surely can.
Kelly @ Reading the Paranormal April 22, 2012 at 9:01 am
Your bookmarks look verra, verra purty. I can’t wait to get my requested 900 from you. I shall paper all of Morgan Hill with them! “Thank you for making my coffee, Mr Barista Man! Here’s a bookmark to warm your lonely nights!” It will be GLORIOUS!
Tumblr *is* porntastic!
At least that’s been my experience.
I’ve heard that the Beauty Queens audiobook is FABULOUS because of Libba. Hmm. I have that book. I should read it.
*huggles you*
Amanda @ On a Book Bender April 22, 2012 at 9:47 am
I bet you’ll get them soon, I sent them to you on Friday!
Beauty Queens is full of fun and snark. Though I did start the book a looooong time ago and never finished. I think I much prefer the audiobook.
Stephanie @ Once Upon a Chapter April 22, 2012 at 11:51 am
Amanda! Your bookmarks are beautiful!! I’m all signed up and ready to go for Bout of Books. Now it’s just the wait!
Thanks for the shout out! My original thought was to add one other reviewer but I’m thinking I need another romance reviewer too. Decisions, decisions! :)
Amanda @ On a Book Bender April 22, 2012 at 1:49 pm
Thank you!
I think if I take on any more reviewers, I would have to change my posting schedule, because I actually read enough now that I would need at least a 3/week schedule.
Ruby April 22, 2012 at 1:28 pm
*Dances at the thought of another Thea Harrison novella* I LOVE how prolific Thea is. It’s completely awesome for me. Yes, let’s joint review it. I’ll contact her and see if she’d be willing to do something similar to what we did for Natural Evil. The guy on the cover looks like someone smushed Damien Lewis and Ian Sommerhalder together. Not a bad idea, methinks.
Authors narrating their own audiobooks are hit or miss. I love reading aloud, so I’d totally be one that would do this. Libba Bray’s Going Bovine was a great listen, too. Wait, I think I already told you that.
Amanda @ On a Book Bender April 22, 2012 at 1:54 pm
Of TWO more novellas, you mean. There will be four in all, and then she said she was going to focus on the full length novels.
This was only the first time I’ve listened to an author narrate her own book. It works, though. Very much so.
Ruby April 22, 2012 at 2:03 pm
I skimmed the article, so I must’ve missed the mention of TWO more novellas. All the better.
I’m trying to remember which other author has read his own books. It was definitely a man. Maybe Rick Riordan? Can’t recall.
Amanda @ On a Book Bender April 22, 2012 at 2:11 pm
Yes, well it was novella three she announced, and then she said there was one more.
CreativeDeeds April 22, 2012 at 4:27 pm
I still wanna know why you guys get all the fun search terms. *pouts*
I’m glad you like the bookmarks :) That makes me happy.
Happy Blogoversary!
Amanda @ On a Book Bender April 22, 2012 at 4:50 pm
Because we attract the crazies?
Logan April 24, 2012 at 11:48 am
Okay, I’m signing up for the readathon, and this time I swear I’ll actually do it. I may need some book bullying to happen.
I want a bookmark! I’ll email you.
Amanda @ On a Book Bender April 24, 2012 at 1:04 pm
Book bullying, you say? I think I know a few people who might be up to that task. :)
Kelly @ Reading the Paranormal April 24, 2012 at 1:08 pm
*cracks knuckles*
*puts on my book bullying pants*
Okay. I’m ready.
Amanda @ On a Book Bender April 24, 2012 at 1:17 pm
*frowns at you* Are you sure pants are necessary for this?
Kelly @ Reading the Paranormal April 24, 2012 at 1:19 pm
To be honest, they’re just my sleeping shorts. So… no. Pants are not required.
Amanda @ On a Book Bender April 24, 2012 at 1:20 pm
Oh. Okay. I was worried.
Tara SG (25 Hour Books) April 26, 2012 at 12:05 pm
OMG the bookmarks look amazing in person!!! I know I’m completely biased, but I LOVE them :)
Amanda @ On a Book Bender April 26, 2012 at 12:07 pm
Yay! You got them!
