Clock Rewinders on a Book Binge is where Tara @ 25 Hour Books and I shamelessly plug each other, share the fantastic posts, giveaways, or whatever else we’ve found and loved by other awesome bloggers (or authors!) during the week, and talk about the books we received that week.
On a Book Bender Recap
- Review: That Voodoo You Do by Jodi Redford — Outside comfort zone, yet so good!
- Top Off Tuesday — #GutterPass This
- Review: A Hunger Like No Other by Kresley Cole — Another series to get lost in.
- Hounded Read-Along: THE LAST WEEK! Watch for something special Friday, though!
Meanwhile, in Amanda’s World
- I’ve been going hardcore with Bloggiesta! I’ve already updated my reviews page, my review policy page, I added an appearances page, moved some sidebar items to their own page, deleted some of my widgets on the side bar AND gave Kelly her own about page, which she still needs to fill out. Huzzah!
- The plans for my blogoversary celebration have begun! If you still would like to do something (anything!) let me know! It doesn’t have to be a guest post.
- I’m on the hunt for audiobooks. I recently listened to Hexed and Hammered by Kevin Hearne on audiobooks and LOVED the experience. I need to get my hands on more. And I need to be able to put it on my mp3, as my car doesn’t have a CD player, nor do I. Suggestions?
- I finally FINALLY! managed to get myself stuck in Twitter jail. I tried to do it with the last Bout of Books and failed. But Bloggiesta did it for me. It was AWESOME.

- Sockets and Lightbulbs posted about promoting your blog on Facebook
- Bookalicious posted about the top 10 HTML basics. I knew these already, but they’re still good to share.
- The Reading Fever had a mini-challenge for cleaning up your sidebar! I loved this one, and ended up getting rid of some of my widgets on the side.
- If you’re self-hosted WP (like me), this post on Jenni Elyse has a lot of good plugin suggestions in the comments
- The Book Vixen talks about backing up your blog. (Blogger specific)
- Jacinda wrote about Windows Live Writer. It’s not really necessary for WP, but if you have Blogger, definitely check it out!
3 Star Rating Event
- Geeky Blogger’s Book Blog
- Nyx Book Reviews
- Both of these lovely ladies agree that 3 is a good rating (as do I). Who disagrees?
Miscellaneous
- Felicia talked about how her blog doesn’t necessarily reflect her love of mysteries, and I think my blog suffers the same kind of problem! I, too, want to start reading some more mysteries.
- Book Lovers, Inc. had a discussion post on love triangles. LOVE TRIANGLES!
- Ruby is looking for people to sign up for her debate team.
- Ashley @ The Bookish Brunette and Alexa @ Pages of Forbidden Love started a new feature where they swap blogs and review a book the other recommend. I thought it was awesome! Ashley was at Pages of Forbidden Love reviewing The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer (LOVE!) and Alexa reviewed The First Days at The Bookish Brunette.

Haha, at least someone is doing great at the Bloggiesta! I’m totally slacking.. And congrats on getting in Twitter Jail, I know you’ve been waiting for that one a long time!
Thanks for linking to my blog (: <3
Amanda @ On a Book Bender April 1, 2012 at 10:54 am
Many of the things I’ve done are things I’ve been wanting to do, so it w as just a matter of actually doing them. You know?
Mary @ Book Swarm April 1, 2012 at 8:28 am
I got a late start with Bloggiesta but worked some on SEO yesterday (boy, I’m no good with instructions. I need to SEE how things are done…such a visual learner. My eyes were crossing after reading all that SEO stuff!). Today, I hope to hit more of my list. An excellent week–I’m impressed by all that you got done for Bloggiesta!
Amanda @ On a Book Bender April 1, 2012 at 10:55 am
Yeah. SEO is rather complicated. I’m still not sure I completely understand it, even though I use it.
Smash Attack April 1, 2012 at 8:50 am
Congrats on Twitter jail! You have reached a milestone. :)
Good work on all Bloggiesta fun!! You are a rockstar. Loving the appearances page. :)
The only good source I know for mp3 audiobooks is Audible.
Amanda @ On a Book Bender April 1, 2012 at 10:56 am
My Twitter jail cherry HAS BEEN POPPED!
That’s what I was afraid of. I don’t want to sign up for Audible because there is a monthly fee. Maybe I have to go bug Felicia or Missie for advice on audiobooks.
Brianna (The Book Vixen) April 1, 2012 at 4:33 pm
Dude, the library! My library has all kinds of books on audio. Too bad I don’t have the attention span for audio books.
Amanda @ On a Book Bender April 1, 2012 at 5:28 pm
The problem with the library is that I don’t have a CD player, and I assume that most CDs are going to be protected from ripping to mp3s. I could look into the selection on the online library, but I don’t know if that will work, either.
Mandi Kaye April 2, 2012 at 7:44 am
I’ve never seen a CD be protected from ripping to mp3s… after all, that’s the whole point of importing your music into iTunes, isn’t it?
Amanda @ On a Book Bender April 2, 2012 at 7:45 am
But the library can do magical things! I went to check an audiobook out on Friday, and turned out they weren’t open until noon (it was 11:30) so I gave up and went home.
Brianna (The Book Vixen) April 2, 2012 at 10:27 pm
Audible books from the library can be played on MP3 players. I’ve only done it once so I won’t be much help but you should definitely check it out.
Amanda @ On a Book Bender April 3, 2012 at 6:07 am
Thanks for the info!
Kelly @ Reading the Paranormal April 1, 2012 at 11:37 am
You’ve done a shitload of stuff for Bloggiesta. It’s like you’re a grownup now or something.
PS: I’m so proud of you for going to twitter jail. SO PROUD!
Amanda @ On a Book Bender April 1, 2012 at 11:38 am
I’m a big girl now!
Kelly @ Reading the Paranormal April 1, 2012 at 11:49 am
They grow up so fast. *sniffle*
Amanda @ On a Book Bender April 1, 2012 at 11:52 am
*pets you*
Amy @ bookgoonie April 1, 2012 at 12:00 pm
SEO!!! I’m such a baby. I’m not sure my simple mind can wrap itself around all of it.
I freaking forgot I downloaded Heaton’s books too.
Thanks for the Bloggeista links, so I can go get caught up on some of the good stuff.
Agreed a 3 is a good book, you don’t regret it, but you wouldn’t bump books for it OR necessarily pre-order the rest in the series, but you’ll keep reading on… (oh the bad grammar).
The Fault in Our Stars…you will love. Weepy Awesome!
Amanda @ On a Book Bender April 1, 2012 at 12:04 pm
Well, if it makes you feel better, I don’t think that WP.com has SEO options.
I agree with your thoughts on 3 books, except the reading on part. It depends on the book for me. There has to be something about the book that says the series will continue to get better. There has to be potential.

*gives you a crown for getting put in Twitter jail*
Thanks for mention. I’m sorry you don’t want to debate, though. *sniffs*
I know you already have the 99cent Kindle version of Unholy Ghosts, but the narrator of the audiobook version is FANTASTIC. Seriously. And I don’t actually know if you read any contemporary romances, but the Susan Elizabeth Phillips books read by Anna Fields are great, too. I also listened to a number of the Dark-Hunter books on audio, and they were pretty good, too. Oh, Going Bovine by Libba Bray is great–I wasn’t really a fan until I listened to that–and so are the Curse Workers books by Holly Black.
Amanda @ On a Book Bender April 1, 2012 at 1:21 pm
I’m not a debater. I am more of a discussion post type person. If you had it set up with two columns, one “pro” and one “anti” I’d probably do it.
Thanks for the recommendations.
Brianna (The Book Vixen) April 1, 2012 at 4:31 pm
Wow, you’ve made some great progress during Bloggiesta!!
And I love how you enjoyed being in Twitter jail. LOL
Amanda @ On a Book Bender April 1, 2012 at 5:29 pm
You can still DM while in Twitter jail, so I was okay. That, and I knew it was a possibility. It forced me to go work rather than tweet!
Small Review April 1, 2012 at 6:55 pm
Look at you! You are a-mazing with all of your Bloggiesta awesomeness! Nicely done :)
Thank you for linking me! I’m so happy the named attribution jumps post was helpful.
Amanda @ On a Book Bender April 1, 2012 at 7:34 pm
Thanks, Small! :)
Mandi Kaye April 2, 2012 at 7:42 am
Pretty much any audiobook narrated by Wil Wheaton is full of win. But I would suggest starting with Peter and Max. Seriously, try it.
And for me, 3 star ratings mean the book may have been well written, but I didn’t particularly like it. Anything less than a 3 means I hated it.
Amanda @ On a Book Bender April 2, 2012 at 7:47 am
Good to know, thanks!
I think a 3 stars rating is such a fascinating topic because it varies so much from person to person. :)
Jacinda @ The Reading Housewives April 2, 2012 at 4:36 pm
Lots of bloggers want associate bloggers/reviewers…I wonder why that is. I guess I just don’t get it. (nothing against them) :) You bought TFiOS?!?!?! YAY! biting and girls?! Thanks for the linkage.
Amanda @ On a Book Bender April 2, 2012 at 4:54 pm
For me it was a matter of time (and security) of being able to have a consistent posting schedule. Without Kelly, my blog would have review lapses, and that’s not cool. Plus, it’s fun. :)
